Almansa is no ordinary Spanish town. It has a vast wealth of culture and history and a warmth which extends to all visitors.
The town lies 45 minutes from Alicante airport and 50 minutes from Valencia in the province of Albacete, on a plain 700 metres above sea level surrounded by rolling hills.
The population of Almansa is around 25,000 and like many towns in this region basts its own amazing castle. The great Plains around Almansa were the scene of the Great Battle of Almansa 1707. This was the most important battle of the Spanish Succession and was fought between the Spanish, English, Irish, German, Austrian, French and Dutch forces.
Located at the foot of the castle you will find Santa Maria Square surrounded by a fountain, a 16-century Palace and Catholic Church designed in the Renaissance period.
There are parks, theatres, open air farmers markets and many other places of interest for both the young and the young at heart.
Festivals are celebrated throughout the year with the people of Almansa celebrating on the streets and in its many cafes and bars. You will also find some of the most famous restaurants in Spain serving many exquisite traditional and internationsl dishes.
Onthe outskirts of Almansa you will find some of the largest vineyards and horse breeding stables in Spain whilst the town itself us internationally know for its shoe designs.
All around Almansa there are villages and towns some with vast rivers and lakes with their own traditions, festivals and cultues. Similarly there are vibrant cities such as Alicante, Benidorm and Valencia with their marinas, beaches abd city centre shopping all only a short distance from Torre Grande Golf.
